First and foremost, it is truly a gift from God to serve as a teacher in a Christian environment. Being able to grow in our faith while building academics is one of the most unique attributes of a Lutheran School setting. I have been fortunate enough to attend a Lutheran school during my elementary years. Also, I have been exposed to public education through my high school and college education. I have come to the conclusion that all education needs a moral foundation. Children need to know the difference between right and wrong. Respect for authority and those around us are a major concept that I try to convey to children on a daily basis. I firmly believe that children should be growing toward a more responsible outlook on their education. They need to take ownership of their actions in daily activities. All of my expectations lead to our Lord. Having respect for authority, responsibility, and knowing right from wrong are all Christian attributes that are taught through the Ten Commandments.
I feel that I am a strong role model. My belief and my trust in the Lord are evident daily through my actions as a teacher. I believe children learn more from what teachers do than what they say. I feel that my students can look up to me. I will always be there to give advice or just to listen to the children. I want to be part of their support system. The way I live my life reflects my faith. I show respect for co-workers, others in authority, as well as the students in my classroom. I take responsibility for my actions and set high standards for my students and myself. I praise God that He has brought me to the place I am today. He has had a plan for me my whole life. He is not only with me, but He is ahead of me. He knows those plans and I have confidence that He will fulfill those plans through me.
